How did you find deviantART?
What inspired your username?
I chose "lintu" because i love freedom and just like a bird, when i'm caged i lose my motivation and get sad for not being able to express myself and do the things i like - it's like taking away a bird's freedom to fly. Also, i liked how "bird" sounded in Finnish (i was watching The Dudesons back then - my favourite was Jukka).
"4" is for death - in Japanese the pronunciation of 4 sounds a lot like death, at least from what i know - and because of this the number 4 is considered to be unlucky, like 13 is for others.
Finally, "7" was always one of my favourite numbers, i can't exactly say that it is my lucky number, but it's definitely one of my favourites.
How does deviantART stand out for you?
Well it stands out in many ways. It is the only community i found so far that it's so supporting in all the ways you can think of. I don't lie and/or exaggerate when i tell you that the friends i made here, and even strangers kept my spirits up when i was down (real life sucks sometimes).
Also, what i love about this site is that when you give, you always receive something in return - appreciation. Sometimes the most important thing you receive is a smile and the thought you made someone's day better.
What do you aim to do in the deviantart community?
My goal is to to spread the dA love through my features, interviews, polls, comments, group activities and involvement in community projects. I wish to inspire others to support fellow artists without expecting anything in return.
What inspires your work?
I don't consider myself an artist, therefore i won't talk about that kind of inspiration. But for what i do, what truly inspires me is nothing more than the memory of the feeling i had when someone first did the same thing for me and others' community work as well, it's lovely to see others spreading the love around. All in all, what keeps me going is the thought that what i do matters to someone
What is your main genre(s)?
What is unique about the medium(s)s?
What kinds of things are reflected in your style?
As for photography, it's not a secret anymore that i like working with cats, although they can be a royal pain in the ass when it comes to photographing them.
In both these mediums i like to combine aesthetics with message, regardless of what it may be (whether it makes you think, or it just makes you "Aww", i'm happy when i get a reaction from the viewer because it means the message/parts of it got to them).
As a fun fact, when i bought my camera i was firmly going to shoot macro, that until i realized i don't have enough money left to buy a macro lens as well - this is how i got stuck with cats (the fact i love them it not related to this at all, naaaah) : )
Any difficulties regarding your art?
Of course! With Literature it's the perfectionism i can't get rid of, and with Photography it's the lack of equipment and the "model's" temper.
What is your future as an artist?
As a pro artist, none; as an amateur, well, i'll keep photographing (and perhaps write again) as a hobby.
What words of advice do you have for others?
If you aren't happy with your art, continue to learn and practice. Do this even if believe you're good enough - never be completely contempt with yourself because when you do, you'll start devolving and all your progress will be lost, others will come from behind and will happily take your place. Have high expectations and standards so you will always be urged to do better.
