Hello! I'm Stasya, 19 years old, living in Russia, in great city Saint-Petersburg.
I love making photos, pixel art, drawing in muro, cooking, eating
And dedicated to deviantART community forever.
How did you find deviantART?
Well...I can't remember ALL things! Maybe I was looking for a wallpaper or some
inspirations for myself or something else I was inactive for 3 months after
joining dA, but then...I became a bit more active, more and more, and now I don't know
what would i do without deviantART.

Project Educate: Classic Portrait PhotographyClassic Portraits are Photographs of people in traditional pose. These are often formal, refined and restrained in style. As you will see within the Gallery they often involve a plain and simple background which is a popular feature of Classic Portraiture. One of the most notable things within the Classic Portrait Photography Gallery is that there are a lot of art nudes. This actually occurs across the board with People & Portraits and I cannot stress enough - that if your work features nudity, it belongs within the artistic nude gallery!

Conversion to black and white with concentration on bringing out tones and shadows creates that timeless classic look and is often favoured by the elite artists that submit to the People & Portraits - Classic Gallery.

Shoot Yourself: Self Portraiture Contest "Shoot" Yourself - A Self Portraiture Photography Contest
The idea is to get creative and move away from those myspace style self-portraits. Admit it, most of you did them - and fine tune your photographic skills by taking your own picture! Using technique that you possess, can learn from tutorials or may pick up this week, you need to take a shot of yourself as creatively as possible.

Everyday we're CV'ingAs a Community Volunteer - I do as much or as little within the community that I feel comfortable doing. We're not pressured to do this and that, we don't even have to give a Daily Deviation every day, we choose how we promote our selected galleries/chats and forums and we're not fixed to any specific rule on how much or how little we do. Project Educate is about bringing forward art forms whether they are popular or overlooked and giving

People + Portraits Photography Talent Spotlight`Kendra-Paige has been on deviantART for over eight years now and has made a strong mark on the people and portraits gallery especially with her fashion work. Her kit consists of a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon EF 85mm 1.2L II lens using various other lenses and focal lengths but repeatedly gravitating towards the 85mm. She uses a combination of lightroom and photoshop to post-process her work although she keeps her editing as minimal as possible as she doesn't enjoy the post-processing bit of photography!
Why did you choose people as a photographical interest?
I have always found people to be fascinating, and I have a particular interest in expressions and eyes. The eyes tend to be the focal point in a lot of my work, and typically dictate the image. Aside from this, it’s the collaborative effort that I enjoy in portraiture. When you take images of animals and nature, there is only so much control you have with the subject - a lot of it is luck

PE Interview with DD Suggester Minato-KushinaAs part of Daily Deviations PE week we have interviewed the lovely `Minato-Kushina who has been suggesting DDs since November 2010. She has since then had over 500 suggestions accepted and as a result of her regular suggestions, made her name known on the DD page.
What first got you interested in wanting to suggest DDs?
I don't really remember the exact point when I started paying attention to DDs. I guess, I saw these beautiful pictures at the bottom of my page. Gradually, I understood that they were a kind of "award" for outstanding pieces. I was also wondering how some people could suggest DDs! By searching here and there, I found the way.
I eventually decided to send my first suggestion to ^rydi1689, the then Fan Art Gallery Moderator. She is so kind, she accepted it immediately! Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be

PE: Daily Deviations - The Myth and the LegendDaily Deviations, or DDs . . . for some deviants, receiving one is the epitome of awesomesauce in the deviantART world. For others, they are a nice way to show off the work of lesser-known artists. Still others treat them as a special way to bring attention to great art that exemplifies works being done by a particular gallery or community.
Perhaps because there are so many different ways of conceptualizing DDs, there are also many myths and misconceptions. I would like to address some of those myths by responding to the ones most frequently heard. Please note that these opinions are mine and reflect my experiences with the photomanipulation community, but perhaps they will be informative nevertheless.
Myth 1: DDs should always be perfect.
To many of us, the ideal Daily Deviation goes to an artist with amazing talent whose work draws you in and makes you think, "Wow, everyone needs to see this!" A DD should move you, inspire you, and provoke you to think, b

Project Educate: Photographing Infants + ChildrenPhotographing infants and children can either be really painful and frustrating, or incredibly fun and rewarding. It depends entirely on the child. I kid, sort of. It's what you make of it and how you treat the moment. Children are fast, sometimes moody, sometimes hyper and nearly always think they know what you want them to do when you turn the camera on them. Either run, or crack that huge fake camera smile that they've been taught to do for their school photographs.

Don't force a smile. If the child doesn't want to smile, don't make them. You'll end up with the fake smile. However having said that, you can try and be funny, but again don't push it. They're smarter than many give them credit for. If you're not getting a smile but you're getting a rude funny face, then accept it. Those sorts of shots can be awesome as well.

Learn to accept imperfections. Whether the children are strangers to you or not, you can't have it perfect all of the time. Messy hair,

Community Voices: What is a Daily Deviation?DDs: The deviantART definition
So, as the title says, What in the world IS a Daily Deviation (DD), anyway?
You know what deviantART says about it, right? Under :faq61: it says:
A small assortment of submissions are chosen each day by a select group of staff/volunteer members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large.
That says nothing about a DD being a perfect specimen of art-- in fact, it doesn't even use the word "art" at all.

Basically, as CVs, when we are giving a DD, we are doing so because we think the image is interesting and well-done and deserves your attention. It may be technically exquisite. It may be technically quite good but exceptionally thought-provoking. It may be exceedingly creative. It may be all of these things! Above all else, it should stand out in some way from others in that medium or gallery.

Project Educate: Being a People PersonSo you've got the equipment, you've got the top notch camera, the lighting, the studio, the backdrop and even the perfect weather - everything you need for a portrait photography shoot right? Wrong. The key behind all photographs that contain a living and breathing subject is to have the natural look. Just like the key to a conceptual shot is having the idea, the key to portraiture photography is having the eye. Co-operative subjects help too!
I have especially found in the past, that people develop a pained and strained look on their face when the camera is pointed in their direction. Interestingly enough, it happens more often at Weddings. The bride and groom quite often develop the look that they might have when they've just finished writing out the cheque for me to photograph their big day...

Tanya, Thank you for participating!

Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Tanya, I'm an artist with a camera and I run on caffeine. My inside leg measurement is over half my height, I have 15 piercings and I was born on the Winter Solstice.

How did you find deviantART?

I don't entirely remember. It was a long time ago! I think I saw a link on another website.

What inspired your username?

I wish there was a deep and meaningful story here, but there isn't. I just liked how the two words looked and sounded together.

How does deviantART stand out for you?

It really is unique in terms of art websites. I love that artists of all skill levels are welcome here and I've never found a community like this anywhere else online. As well as being a place to share and enjoy art, it's an amazing place to make friends.

What do you aim to do in the deviantART community?

Pretty much just what I'm doing already...lots of promoting other people's work (as a CV), providing information (through tutorials, journals, #communityrelations and #fella) and generally having fun.

Celebrating Diversity #13In this issue of Celebrating Diversity, I would like to remind you of an amazing feeling...when you see a piece of art created in a medium or genre that you have little or no experience of working in, and it feels like you're witnessing something magical, something beyond your comprehension.
It's wonderful to revel in the joy of How do they do that? and find inspiration in the creations of other artists. So I challenge you to take a step outside of the galleries that you regularly browse and immerse yourself in the experience of indulging in something new.

What inspires your work?

Anything and everything! Sometimes ideas for photos come from films or music I enjoy, sometimes I wake up from a really interesting dream and want to capture that imagery...a lot of the time I'm inspired by the people around me who I like to point my camera at.

What is your main genre(s)?

Horror and conceptual photography, expressive portraiture...lots of other stuff too. I don't really have a main genre. I just go with whatever takes my fancy at any given time. Sometimes I go through phases where I shoot a lot of one kind of thing, then something else will come along and inspire me so I'll work with that for a while.

What is unique about the medium(s)s?

I love how photography captures something in a fraction of a second. Often, when when a concept for a shoot is totally planned out and hours of preparation have gone into styling, make-up, lighting, set creation etc there will something random that happens in the 160th of a second while the shutter is open that takes a picture to the next level and expresses something really special and unexpected.

What kinds of things are reflected in your style?

I don't know. I don't even know that I have a style! It's something I think other people see in your work that you don't necessarily notice yourself.

Any difficulties regarding your art?

Not really, apart from people mistakenly assuming that anyone who creates horror art is a violent psychopath. Which I'm not in the slightest. I'm a very friendly, calm person who just likes playing with effects make-up.

What is your future as an artist?

I ran a photography business for years, not only shooting but also teaching individuals and classes, and managing a studio which I hired out to other photographers. I loved it but unfortunately my health made it impossible to continue with it (I have M.E.). At the moment, I'm just enjoying creating art for the love of it rather than for money. I feel like I'm falling in love with photography all over again, which is just fantastic!

What words of advice do you have for others?

If you want to make money from your art, you have to be business-minded to make it work. Being excellent at what you create isn't enough.

Anything more you'd like to add?

Whatever you do artistically, savour the experience and enjoy the fact that you're creating something amazing and sharing a part of yourself with the world!
