Stolen Art and How to Find ItPicture if you will that it's an ordinary day, you're goofing off on deviantArt with nothing to do, and suddenly, right there among "Newest Art", you see IT. One of the most beautiful images you've ever seen on dA. An image that just begs you to click it and fullview it. Of course, you simply must fave it - you can't bear the thought of another minute without that gorgeous photo of Delicate Arch or that beautiful watercolor mermaid or that super-hot fanart of Jessica Rabbit somewhere on your profile.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe you're dealing with stolen art?
Probably not, but your jaw might have dropped at the suggestion - what if that awesome photo or digital painting or vector you just faved WAS stolen? Unfortunately, the Internet being what it is, there are very few ways to be completely sure any given image wasn't stolen. But here are a few tips to determining whether or not it was.

Perspective is the angle and depth of a piece of art. Changing perspective allows for drastic differences. There is more than one kind of perspective, and all of them allow for more dynamic pieces of art if used correctly.
There are three common choices, and these are explained later.
Usually perspective deals with how close things appear, and correctly rendering perspective adds depth to an image and increases the impact of the composition.
One Point Perspective
One point perspective is where there is one vanishing point in a piece. . A vanishing point is essentially the in-the-distance-until-you-can'

There are many channels you can use to find the answers to various types of questions - such as the +faq, the *welcome tour, the deviantART Tutorials category and the :#help: chatroom. I see Stock & Resources as a category of art on deviantART where the entire focus is on helping others and providing them with what they need. This helps artists of any medium! Photomanipulators for example rely heavily on the stock photos they find here. If you draw or paint, digitally or traditionally, many stock photos can be hugely helpful as reference, as can line art and textures. There's literature templates, fonts, fractal and vector resources, designs & patterns for artisans and crafters.. and then there's tutorials for any kind of art, and about deviantART itself.
So one great way to contribute something to the community and your fellow artists is to provide such resources!
We will not go into this in depth as it has its own Community Volunteers and Project Educate weeks that should help you get started!

Hello, deviants! In an effort to keep the community informed and to provide the best possible experience for our members, we wanted to inform you of changes to our reporting system.
DeviantART is dedicated to protecting our artists, and in an effort to be able to more quickly handle complaints by deviants who have had their rights infringed on, we have changed the way we receive complaints from the artist or the copyright holder.
In the past, we took reports by the copyright holder in two different ways: An informal report via the Report Violation tool and a formal complaint via contacting the Help Desk. While both of these methods were effective, they presented many setbacks.

Permission Issues and Art theft: It's sadly a common thing now.
It is a huge problem on deviantART/ internetz.

But wait! IDK what art theft is..

Art theft is unacceptable. Think about how long people spend on their works. And how much of themselves go into it. Now someone else has spent 0 seconds and claimed it as theirs. NO.

You must credit resources. That includes OCs, stocks, brushes, textures, snippets of code(no, changing the colors of a journal skin does not mean you made it) , tutorials(sometimes).
Written credits. Google images is not good enough.

Create a water mark and a signature. Do not make it obnoxious though...
Do not allow downloads on your work. Uncheck the box. It may not prevent it completely, but it can help a litle.
Do not provide a huge size image. High resolution: no... Easy to right click, save and done.

You can keep them hidden, but that will encourage saving/reloading without crediting you. A bit of reverse psychology there, but it depends on your preference.
